Server Monitoring
Although monitoring your servers is important, it’s even more important to monitor your sites. Be sure to check out our Site Monitoring doc as well.
Although we’re definitely going to build server monitoring and alerting into SpinupWP in the future, it’s a huge project and we’re just not there yet. The good news is that there are some excellent server monitoring and alerting options you can use with your SpinupWP servers.
In fact, most cloud server providers include server-level monitoring and alerting as part of their platform. AWS EC2 doesn’t but AWS Lightsail, DigitalOcean, Akamai/Linode, and Vultr all do.
If your provider doesn’t include server-level monitoring and alerting, you could try New Relic, Nginx Amplify, or Pingdom Server Monitoring. New Relic offers a lot more features than Amplify or Pingdom, but at a higher cost. Although Amplify and Pingdom are simpler, they could very well be sufficient for your needs. We recommend taking a look at their features and maybe even trying it to decide if it’s a good fit for you before trying New Relic.
A final option here is to set up an open source monitoring solution like Netdata or Nagios. But you’ll need to run this on your own server and manage it yourself.
Now that you have a good idea of what’s needed to monitor your servers, head on over to our Site Monitoring doc.
